Thankyou for your response to my article. It is very interesting what you are saying, in all my research of blood diamonds I didn't think about other issues surrounding the mining of them.
I thought it was necessary to include that diamonds do not need to be completely avoided- (my initial reaction when learning about them.)
I think the idea of lab- created diamonds is a great, and they need to be more publicized in order to avoid the negative impacts diamond mining causes. In any future articles on this topic, I'll be sure to include the idea of man-made diamonds.

Thank you for writing about one of the issues associated with traditionally mined diamonds. More awareness needs to be brought to the severe implications of the diamond trade.

You are very correct that "there is no need to go choosing a cubic zirconium," but your justification is flawed. There are many negative issues associated with mined diamonds that go well beyond the funding of conflict. What about pollution, contamination, disease, unsafe labor practices, unfair wages, the oppression of minorities, and I could go on. Certified "conflict-free" addresses none of these issues.

There are better alternatives.

Canadian diamonds – Compared to other countries where plentiful diamonds have been discovered, Canada has better environmental and labor standards. However, of the four most productive diamond mines in Canada, three are controlled by foreign companies. Furthermore, most Canadian diamonds are only mined in country. The cutting, polishing and trade of the diamonds occur in India and Africa.

Lab-created diamonds – These diamonds have been made by humans in a laboratory rather than beneath the surface of the earth by nature. Lab-created diamonds are optically, chemically and physically identical to their mined counterparts, but are much less expensive and are not marked by the negative social and environmental impacts. Gem quality lab-created diamonds are still very rare as there are only a handful of labs in the world working to further develop the technology.

I do agree with what you are saying in the most part. There are the inconsistencies that I have pondered since seeing this film. First I too was very disappointed that the time period for this film was to be the Clone Wars, as you said, been there done that.
One of the first things I thought of was how can Anakin have a padawan before Revenge of the Sith and be a Master when one of the main plot points in Sith was Anakin's anger over the Council not granting him the rank of Master? huh?
The Sith you must be referring to is Asajj Ventress. A very good character originally seen in the first cartoon network's Clone Wars by the Samarai Jack creators. She is a great character that has potential for some great great stories.

I see what you are saying about the appeal to the younger audience and trying to build new fans. I could respect that, that is just good business. Which we can all agree, Lucas knows what he is doing in that regard. I didn't care for the movie too much and I am a huge fan from the start. I think this was strictly aimed at the kids, But agree that the film looked pretty cool as now in retrospect I can forgive the film for its animation style. Glad they didnt waste something spectacular on a kiddie movie.
With the release of this movie, follow up tv series, The Force unleashed Video game (that is a whole other story, Vader was the brain child of the Rebellion? What? ) there will be inconsistencies that probably never will be explained. I can only imagine how hard it truly is to follow the plot lines of something as huge as the SW saga. But what can I say Mr Lucas you have spoiled us with your iron fist. I do appreciate that, I really do. I know us original fans are getting old and you must appeal to the next gen of fans, but don't alienate us completely.
I do believe our time as adults is coming. With the live action tv series that is in pre production, I think we will be pleasantly surprised and vindicated!

Truth is that Manhunt 2 blew chunks here in the states, so personally I wouldn't even bother with it when it goes across the ocean.

All this being said because violence aside... the game just plain played horribly. Not to mention that after a while it felt like violence for the sake of violence and the backslash it was going to get. Something I'm planning on writing about soon... RIGHT ON THE 8-BIT CORNER!

((Feels like a hypocrite since his last article was about a game which had fatalities in them...))

It's crazy how much of our wardrobes can be dictated by what the shops are stocking every season. Sometimes fashions are great, and sometimes you wonder who thought it was great idea to go around wearing the infamous 'ass slogans'.

Personally, I'm not against buying clothes in places like H&M, despite how much rubbish there sometimes is in high street shops... However, I do love to go charity shop crawling. You never know when you'll find a great bargain (Recently to my shoe collection I've added a £7 pair of purple doctor martens and a £20 pair of New Rocks in amazing condition!), and some clothes never go out of fashion. In Japan converse shoes are HIGHLY collectable!

And of course, lets not forget that despite not living in the 60's, 70's or 80's and that we have such great access to pretty much most things we'd like to wear, we can always take a leaf out of the seemingly long forgotten 'make it like your mum made hers' approach and be the pioneers of our own style!

Right now, I'm going for the steam-punk aviator look. Tomorrow? I think I might revive Japanese Pirate fashion and break out my vintage funeral kimono.

Who knows?

I have not texted much. I don't feel the need to. I have seen what texting can do. Have we lost the value of hearing someones voice? I don't know. It seems as though texting has taken over our life. Sure there are pros to texting. But the cons out way the pros. The truly sad thing is that people sit around and wait for texts.

One question you have to ask yourself in which you didn't even address is if you are needing and or craving a drink. Sure I drink a beer or two even now and then when I am by myself. But I don't feel the need to drink five days a week. But there seems to be the use of drinking since fifteen as an excuse a couple of times throught the column. Maybe there is a problem that you are not addressing. I get you want to have fun while you are young. But that doesn't mean you should risk dying due to having no liver due to excessive drinking. I have seen the effects drinking has. Luckily my dad has stopped getting drunk and has went back to moderation. One should really look at priorities and see that you don't need to get drunk to have a good time. That is a myth. Just because the alcohol is there doesn't mean you need to drink it. It is all about will power. But then again, just because you are young doesn't mean you need to drink everyday. Drinking everyday may give the people the impression that you are an alcoholic.

You are going about this with a negative mindset. You can look good while being as big as you are. It is all on how you feel. If you feel good than some people will view you in a different light. You can be plus size and be fine with that. Sure it not a good choice because of the health concerns, but you shouldn't feel bad about yourself based on how people view you.

Thanks for the comment Ricky. I'm glad you enjoyed reading.

I can understand how in some parts I may have mislead the reader into thinking I only want to surround myself with people who like me for the way I look. I did fail to mention the nature of my lifestyle and how infact i feel quite the opposite about who I socialise with. I am actuallyrather picky, and cannot bare to be arround people I do not find intellectually stimulating.

As I said in my article, I am a very judgemental person. So I can only assume others judge me the way I judge them.

Interesting theory about 'the honey trap'. Although, I'm not sure if you were trying to imply it, I don't think ALL relationships are destined for the ever-dreaded fly swat, but I do agree that a lot of relationships will end up being severed. However, I choose to believe that the reason why is simply because people don't know how to manage relationships, and those who do know how are much less likely to be 'swatted'. Interesting theory nonetheless, Ellen.

Although, I’m not sure if you were trying to imply it, I don’t think ALL relationships are destined for the ever-dreaded fly swat, but I do agree that a lot of relationships will end up being severed. However, I choose to believe that the reason why is simply because people don’t know how to manage relationships, and those who do know how are much less likely to be ’swatted’. Interesting theory nonetheless, Ellen.

Great column, Michelle. I can fully see the lack of appeal in being "fat", or different from what society tells you to look like. Although, I would've said that you shouldn't worry about it (until you mentioned it in your column, lol) because in the long term, I think it's irrelevant.

Assuming you would lead the template lifestyle of completing education, starting a career, and getting married; I think it would do you more of a service to look normal like you do now, rather than resembling a model body image, because you're likely to meet people who are smart enough to see through temporary appearances and focus on personality and common interests, which would be a more long-term solution for relationships.

People (especially people with lower intelligence) will treat you more favourably by how "fit" you are, and perhaps that's what you want (judging by what you said in the article), but like I said, I think it's a great service to yourself weeding out people who only want to talk to you because of how you look like.

Although I may have painted a vulgar picture about being "fit", being in good shape is great for health, and I think that should be the main motivation in going to a gym a few times a week rather than going to improve body image, which I know for a fact doesn't work, because results wouldn't come fast enough and patience would wear thin real quickly.

Good to hear you'll be more accepting of your current body image! :)

*sigh* Where do I begin?

First off, I know for a fact that you can ask somewhere to delete your details after you deleted your account. A friend of mine did this and it was completely easy to do. Send an email and they'll do it.

Because you fail to realise, my friend, that every place you sign up to does it because, obviously, you give them the information and they keep it. 'Personal freedoms' go out the window when you give these so called 'freedoms' away. And like I said, you can get those deleted. Facebook isn't any different from any other service you sign up to.

None of it has anything to do with people wanting to express their views over something they don't like on a Social networking site.

And this hypocrisy nonsense is just that. Nonsense. I didn't say people were terrible for making a group. People have made worse groups (The one in protest of Soldiers not being allowed on Facebook, for example) but one that will make positively no difference by not going on Facebook for a day 2 months away is one I have to call out on. And again, if you noticed, I praised the Facebook petition group and saw the point of its owner because they're actually DOING something constructive and has been in the forefront of this whole thing instead of relating a historical figure with something as petty as social networking.

And what is up with you over exaggerating about how I say things? I didn't 'whinge' or mope like other internet columnists would. I gave my thoughts and backed them up. That's what good columnists do. And me criticising something online from a website is no different to The Guardian finding hypocrisies with The Sun's coverage on a subject. Look up the Madaline McCann stuff and you will see exactly what I mean.

I'm still waiting for direct comments, Colin. And thus far, you're not giving them to me. Instead, you're just making bogus claim after bogus claim. If anyone is foolish around here right now, it's you.

What? You are aware that even after 'deleting' your account, Facebook still retain personal information about you. In fact I've know people who have had to work weeks, even months to have their account deleted.

Hell, of course they're raping your personal freedoms - sorry, did you expect the money grabbing students to care when they sell your details onto the highest paying advertiser company? And once that information is gone, there's no way in hell you're getting it back.

Anyway you come off a total hypocrite in your article - you say people are terrible because they've protested and formed groups against the new facebook - what are you doing whinging about these people through a website? Just as bad, no?

I'd like for you to look at my article and tell me at what point did I say that noone has a right to their view. Point me out one clear example.

Because, throughout my article, I made it very clear that I can see people's point. I can see why the new look can be confusing and I can see why people hate it. But making groups and being rude about things doesn't make change. The Russian Revolution wouldn't have happened in this generation because people would be too busy making Facebook groups about it and not actually doing anything.

You pretty much did what I expected people to do. Skim read my article until it got to the capital letter part and persumed I meant that you guys talk nonsense and that is just as bad.

Not everything is one giant conspiracy theory and not everything in business is evil in the intention of putting down 'your personal freedoms'. But if you don't like something, do something. Delete your Facebook account. You're capable of doing it and it would make much more of a message then not going to it for a day.

Yeah, you might not have to pay for it but you are wrapped up in legally bounding terms and conditions that hold a knife to your personal freedoms, so I think people have every right to say something. Foolish article.

You make a fair point, sir.

But since they'll be a new Muppet Show, Pepe will probably there so it makes sense (Yes, I am trying to cover my dirt ridden tracks. I'm a Journalist, damnit!)

And anyway, Pepe rules. :D

I totally agree how important people never get a mention till they die. If it wasn't for him the world would never have known the likes of Aretha Franklin, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Dire Straits, Led Zepplin, and others. R.I.P. Mr. Wexler! Your service to music is greatly appreciated.

Ah, Eoin Mason, my #1 guy at Starrcadia. Congratulations on the big 100! I was about to write an echo of some of my sentiments that I posted on my blog after the Press Gazette awards (which can be found here: http://www.rickyleone.com/a-quick-word-on-eoin-mason/ ), but I've got some things to add to that.

The first thing is that I think the sky is the limit for you because you've got the ability to learn and learn quickly, and that's the greatest quality one could have. I believe that potentially in 5 years time, you could be one of the top Internet entrepreneurs from London, if that's the road you choose.

Otherwise, I think you've got a great journalism career ahead of you, or hopefully if I can be my selfish-self for a second, I definitely hope you'll be with Starrcadia during that time, as I think you would be an invaluable asset to a business which revolves around our mutual interests.

Meanwhile, Entertainment Newsline's growth is accelerating at an amazing speed, and we're committed to taking it to the next level. We're already working on some BIG ideas, and I can't wait until they've all finalized so we can announce them.

Congratulations again, Mr. Mason!

~ Ricky Leone

P.S. Lol, what disagreements? :P

Meanwhile, Entertainment Newsline’s growth is accelerating at an amazing speed, and we’re committed to taking it to the next level. We’re already working on some BIG ideas, and I can’t wait until they’ve all finalized so we can announce them.

Congratulations again, Mr. Mason!

~ Ricky Leone

P.S. Lol, what disagreements?

Lmao! Hilarious and nicely-written review, wasn't planning on seeing this anyway, but this would've swayed my mind if I had.

Creativity-wise, since I'm a newb at DC comics, I can't really agree/disagree. But sales-wise, I think it's ridiculous that he's getting heat for not meeting Marvel's sales. Marvel is in a boom era, with the huge Iron Man release.

Yahoo was pretty big when first started using email and the Internet ten years ago. I mean I wasn't regularly on the Internet, but Yahoo pretty big back then. I didn't even hear of Google until a few years ago.

Its about bloody time they started releasing series at the same time for everybody else. Coz as for me i'm getting pretty tired of either wasting precious time browsing the web for episodes or better yet when i do find the epsode i have to wait for everyone else to catch up because i have no one to talk about it with.

An example would be prison break: first of all they put the third season (not sure i think its the third) on Sky one - what do they think, that every student in uni has cable. Which makes life twice as hard coz then you have to befriend someone who has diigital tv (which is mean i know but desperate times call for desperate measures! though i would never do something like that!)

And to top off the whole charade Sky one cut the season into bits with loads of breaks -why? Because they want to be on the same time length with America. Whereas if America just released everything at the same time they would being having this problem in the first place and fans could be able to watch their favourite shows in peace without any interruption. Anyway the point is that it's a fantastic idea and i hope they enforce it soon x

If he's got connections, I would stay with Bruce Glover. Because we all know its all about who you know... That way you would be able to refine your talents with him and work his connections... Otherwise, do you like any of the big names or would it be possible to feel out those possibilities?

This column is like Al Bundy, who had four touchdowns in a single game in High School, talking about the ins and outs of the NFL. You've hardly had a cup of coffee in Hollywood and someone had the thought to give you a blog? I will not be wasting my time with this, it's too short and you don't really elaborate. Take more time with your thoughts next time.
