As an apology for my inconsistant posting…..THE POINTLESS RUNDOWN!

Posted by Eoin Mason On September - 30 - 2007

First off, I know I was off about the Biel thing (more about that later), and I haven’t posted much, but as an apology, I am going to run down the big news stories of the past few days I didn’t post

Starting from…..NOW!

Biel out for WW, Gibson in for GL?

Yes, even after I said it was confirmed by my source, the Wonder Woman role is still vacant as, Jessica Biel has rejected the role as the Amazon. No reason has been given yet, but my source, as a comeback to the shock revealed to me it might have been an argument between Biel and director George Miller. But don’t worry Prince fans, another actress who could be in the role is Australian Victoria Hill who certainly looks the part, as you will see. But the more important thing is, noone’s heard of her. We’ll be checking up on this very closely and I’ll be having my guy on speed dial to find out.

Over on the side of John Stewart, ‘Back Room Chatter‘ is saying the man now in the running is Tyrese Gibson for the role of Green Lantern. The Transformers star might be seen as a front runner to the role but we said that about Biel, didn’t we?

At one point or another, I will give you a run down of who is, at this stage in time, in the Justice League movie and who might be next to join the cast, but all I’m saying right now is…take whatever you’ve heard before and never believe a word of it again. Even Variety.

Bionic Woman makes good on it’s debut

In a move that surprised the hell out of me, The Bionic Woman got a huge 13.9 million people watching on it’s NBC debut on Thursday along with

The Michelle Ryan fronted drama based on the 70’s TV show was the biggest audience for the time slot that night and was NBC’s biggest rating for a midweek premiere since The West Wing way back in 1999.

So, why was I surprised? Ryan. If you ever watched EastEnders, you’d know she was probably one of the worst actresses on the show bar none. And then I saw her in the original Bionic Woman pilot, which pretty much changed my mind completly. Between leaving London and going to America to shoot the show, she done damn good for herself. Which leaves the hype machine to follow over here when it debuts next year on ITV2.

Oprah Wimfrey is rich. Damn rich.

Once again, Oprah is top of the
Forbes online celebrity rich list making $260m (£128m) between June 2006 and June 2007. In January of this year, she was once again named the richest woman in the world by the same website.

Her highest contender, Jerry Seinfeld, who basically makes his money from Seinfeld episodes being shown everywhere, was $200 million below Oprah at ‘only’ $60 million.

Basically, this is her world. We’re only pesants.

Sutherland convicted of DUI

In what some would call the shocker of the week, Jack Bauer aka Donald Suntherland could be sent to jail if convicted of Drinking under Influence. But, considering it’s his second conviction, it might not be that much of a shock.

An LA City spokesman said that he would only get 4 months because

Normally, we’d pretty much be saying his career is over, LA are slackers etc but the fact is, this didn’t effect him when he was starting 24, highly doubt it will now.

And with that, I’ll end with something on a sort of sad note. Lois Maxwell, well known for playing Miss Moneypenny in many James Bond films, passed away at the age of 80. I may have not seen many past Bond films, but the character was pratically made an icon by her and will pretty much be in the hearts of many Bond fans in years to come.

After more then 20 dozen directors and millions (and millions…and millions…) of potential candidates, could Jessica Biel be the one to wear the star spangled tights for DC Superhero film ‘Justice League of America’?

According to Variety, there could quite possibly be a chance.

In what could be the first confirmed casting of the huge blockbuster movie based on the comic book series, Jessica Biel is in discussions to play the Amazon after decades of directors and screenplays including the recent disagreement involving Buffy and Firefly creator Joss Whedon over the adaptation.

Along with Biel, rumors are rampant that Ryan Reynolds could play The Flash after him revealing in an interview with IGN in August that he would love to play the fastest man in the world.

This has been in the making for decades. Literally. Whilst Superman and Batman have had many adaptions, fans of Diana Prince have had to stick with Lynda Carter’s 70’s TV adaptation whilst everyone from Kate Beckingsale to Charisma Carpenter to even Tyra Banks have all been rumored to take the role. With this coming up, and the possibility of a spin off movie starring Biel, the future may finally be looking as bright as the Lasso of Truth.

But don’t take this too high into consideration. The last time this happened, Whedon was about to shoot his script and could have casted Carpenter. Last time I checked, that didn’t happen. And somehow, I really don’t think this’ll happen either simply because it hasn’t in the past.

So just wait and see…maybe the Gods aren’t smiling on WB today.

EDIT: Forget everything I have just said. My sources have confirmed to me that Biel WILL be Wonder Woman. The contract has been sealed and the ink still has to dry but it will happen.

So…is this a good thing? We’ll just have to wait and see, won’t we?

Big Day for ‘Little’ Microsoft

Posted by Eoin Mason On September - 25 - 2007
It’s one of those days where Microsoft could potentially not only pull off a Harry Potter with Halo 3 being released in the States, Australia and New Zealand, but also could buy a 5% stake in social website Facebook which could potentailly make the company worth $5 billion (£10 billion)

Eli Roth and Michael Dougherty to write Heroes Origin episodes

Posted by Eoin Mason On September - 24 - 2007

Eli Roth, director of Cabin Fever and the Hostel series, along with Superman Returns writer Michael Dougherty are set to pen episodes for the spin off to the highly successful NBC show ‘Heroes’ called ‘Heroes: Origins’.

According to The Daily Variety, both men join Clerks director Kevin Smith who was unofficially announced as a writer-director at Comic Con San Diego.

The show will run for 6 episodes which will all air mid season and at the end of the season, the audience will be able to vote on who they want to get a main casting role in the third season of Heroes.

For us UK chaps, it has yet to be confirmed whether we’ll be able to vote when Origins arrives over here next year

For me, this is great to hear, as a big Heroes fan. Three big names being lined up to write a spin off, never mind a spin off to a hit show is something you don’t hear very often and with three very distinct personalities (Dougherty also wrote X2: X Men United along with Bryan Singer) helming projects. As a result, you may even find that each character will be very different from one another and may even attract more interest for votes.

Basically, whoever wins, we can’t possibly lose.
